DOOM - Knee Deep In The Dead

Good morning everyone and welcome back to these pages. While last night was consumed the defeat of Rome, I concluded the reading of "Doom - Knee Deep In The Dead," the first book of four inspired by one of gaming's most famous tales and play in the world, Doom. Born from the mind of genius John Carmack, Doom deeply influenced the world of video games, drawing an imaginary line with its "first of Doom" and "after Doom." The third chapter, then, is probably one of the world's most famous games and has even inspired a film (Doom, The Rock and Karl Urban), in fact rather controversial (but which I liked very much, ndAleNet). There 's also the novel of the films just mentioned, which goes more or less verbatim what was seen on video.

This quartet of books, inspired by the events narrated in the first two games of Doom. The Site " prezziok ", shows the back cover:
"This is the first of four novels of Doom, inspired by Doom 1 and Doom 2. Portals were already on Phobos when humanity arrived there for the first time. Construction aggregates and alien property, for twenty years stood there, silent testament of their creators long gone, to keep their secret. Then one day, have awakened ...
Introducing Corporal Flynn Taggart, Marine Corps of the United States serial number 888-23-9912. It's the best fighter in the twenty-first century, and it is good that it is, because Flynn Taggart is the only bulwark between the hell that was unleashed on Mars and the planet Earth, unaware of everything ... "

E ' really a particular book, this. Narrated in first person, is an incredible concentrated action. Except for the first twenty pages, the rest of the book is one long, continuous, exciting, endless combat with monsters, demons, zombies, giants and aliens. Just like the games that inspired. Little plot but lots of plot twists make this book an almost unique, at least for what concerns the background of my readers: I never laid eyes on books where the dialogues are reduced to bone and run fast between pages rivers of blood, monsters and nightmares the verge of revolting.
I really liked. Today I will start reading the second book, which will give account in future posts. However, I would recommend this only to those who loved video games, or at least the film. For everyone else, unless it is a true science fiction fans, I suggest you look the other way.
In any case, you can find the book, for example, to Mondadori, the price of 15 pleural.

Farewell

Ale
